Thomas C. Doak
Executive Director

Tom currently serves as Executive Director.  A 3rd generation woodland owner, Tom graduated from the University of Maine with degrees in Forest Management and Wildlife Management.  He has been a Licensed Professional Forester for 30 years. Early in his career he worked as a forester and land manager on Maine’s state owned forestland working for the Bureau of Public Lands (BPL).   He became Director of the Maine Forest Service in 1999 and served in that capacity for nearly four years.  He joined SWOAM in 2004.

Bill S. Williams
Deputy Executive Director

Williams began his work in forestry and forest management as a high school and college student, working seasonally with the Maine Forest Service as a campsite ranger on Moosehead Lake. He was assigned in Greenville and Dover-Foxcroft offices before moving to Aroostook County in 1996 where he was promoted to district ranger. In 2002, he was named chief ranger in Augusta, serving until his retirement in 2011. Bill joined SWOAM in March 2012.

Debra L. Ladd
Administrative Assistant

Debbie has a degree in Secretarial Sciences. She joined SWOAM in 1987 along with her father, Abbott, who was SWOAM’s first Executive Director, and together they established the Augusta office. Debbie has an important role in the day-to-day operations. She has had a life-long learning experience in good management and conservation of woodlands.
