Legal and Regulatory Aspects
Maine has an unusually large number of rules and regulations for forest land. Part of this is due to the existence of separate rules for the organized and unorganized towns. Another factor is the authority of each organized town to add rules that exceed those passed by the legislature. Professional foresters are an excellent resource for woodland owners as they generally have experience in meeting legal requirements affecting property in their areas.
